4/13/2026 Lincoln City Council Meeting
Lincoln’s meeting this week was as it has been the last few weeks. Short and sweet. Typical rezoning discussions, liquor license discussions, and several bigger-ticket items that needed a little more debate.
This week, there was only one liquor license application and its accompanying manager application. It was for VAL Limited, in the Lied Center. The council recommended approval for their license. There was one more Special Designated License for Mac’s Creek Winery and Brewery. With Haymarket season coming up, we will be seeing a lot of Special Designated Licenses, or SDL’s. It is a license to allow them to serve or sell liquor at their area of the market. The last application was for Bierhaus Maisschäler, and their application was for the area of their license to be expanded so they can serve alcohol in the basement area of their Haymarket location.
As for the “bigger ticket item”, we heard a discussion and vote about a Cooperation Agreement between the City and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission for the Holmes Lake Angler Access Project. This agreement will ultimately make fishing easier at the lake, along with other minor improvements. They will be adding two new “shore hugger” docks, which will be, you guessed it, along the shore. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will fund the construction, but then the City of Lincoln will be responsible for the basic maintenance of the park.
The Lincoln City Council has been relatively drama-free lately, but check back here every week to stay up to date on what is happening in your city, or watch our bi-weekly summary of the Lincoln and Omaha City Council meetings!
