    This bill would make it so that Nebraska does not split its electoral college votes

    It failed to invoke cloture which stopped the debate last year. We will be watching for similar legislation this session

    NEw Voices believes every vote should count and no Nebraskan vote should be invisible. We are firmly opposed to a winner-take-all system

  • Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee | Holdcroft

    This bill would eliminate online voter registration, restrict voter registration by mail, require grounds for early voting, and require hand counts of ballots.

    LB541 is currently sitting in committee.

    Young people already experience increased barriers to voting. NEw Voices is firmly opposed to legislation that makes this process more complex for Nebraskans.

  • Government, Military and Veterans Affairs Committee | J. Cavanaugh

    Currently, 11 counties in Nebraska vote by mail and those counties often have the highest voter turnout rates in the state.

    Voting by mail is an accessible way for young Nebraskans to engage in elections, especially while at school. NEw Voices supports counties taking part in all-mail elections.

    Currently, Nebraskans can opt in to registering to vote when obtaining an ID at the DMV. LB218 would flip this to opt-out.
